This piece is a passacaglia. A simple melodic line is repeated, as a metaphor for mourning. The same material is repeated in 

concentric circles, digging deeper until it's reaching its healing center.

'Music for Violin Solo and 5 Musicians' was commissioned by 'Hermes Ensemble' and was first performed on April 26, 2016 during the 'Festival of De Voorkempen' in the series about the Antwerp Composer Connection in Schildebergen (Belgium).
